​Abstract

Elopement is a dangerous problem behavior in which an individual leaves an area without necessary supervision. The consequences of elopement are severe; therefore, immediate implementation of preventative strategies, assessment, and treatment of elopement behavior is critical. This presentation will provide an overview of the current literature on treating elopement, and participants will learn best practices for individual assessment and treatment. Additionally, participants will learn how to address reported or suspected elopement responsibly and ethically during the intake process. Finally, clinicians will receive free resources they can customize for at-risk families.
